Nate Andersen is a versatile pianist, composer, and educator based in New York City, with over a decade of experience shaping the city’s vibrant music scene.
Celebrated for his songwriting—rich in swing, lyrical depth, and heartfelt expression—Andersen brings a spirit of curiosity and wonder to his work. His music, spanning themes from the mysterious to the profound, invites audiences to share in both joy and reflection, weaving together playfulness and intellect in equal measure.
As a performer, Andersen has been featured with the New York City Master Chorale, in Off-Broadway productions, and on some of the world’s most esteemed stages, including Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and more. Internationally, he has appeared at festivals such as the inaugural FreeSpace Jazz Festival in Hong Kong, and with the Raiis Kahn Project in India, further establishing his reputation as an artist of range and presence.
Beyond the stage, Andersen has spent over 15 years as a dedicated educator and musical director. He has led projects with Manhattan Youth, the New York Department of Education, and The Hudson River Project, among others, and is widely recognized as a trusted mentor and collaborator to hundreds of students in New York’s music community.
